PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

SEBDA seeks to provide information and training opportunities for those professionals in a range of services who support children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
We encourage and support all schools and colleges to identify and train a Designated Senior Lead for Mental Health and promote the mental health and emotional well-being of children and young people in support of the Government’s care policies.
Our current offer includes:
- A termly newsletter entitled 1IN10. Each issue includes an extended article on a particular theme. Recent topics include formulation and Lego Therapy.
- An International Conference staged by SEBDA in partnership with the University of Birmingham. ‘Global solutions to working with vulnerable children’ more info soon.
- In Mind – a series of articles on issues relating to SEMH.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in SEMH Difficulties delivered by SEBDA in partnership with Oxford Brookes University.
Plans are also underway for the delivery of a number of short courses and the production of a series of information leaflets on positive interventions for those at risk of SEMH difficulties.
