Course Tutor (Part-time) - Postgraduate Diploma in SEMH Difficulties

Start Date: 1 September 2022

  • Would you like to join a team of enthusiastic tutors committed to supporting professionals to develop their theoretical understanding and reflective practice and thereby the experiences of the CYP with whom they work?

SEBDA is seeking to recruit a number of tutors to work on the Postgraduate Diploma in SEMH difficulties which we deliver in partnership with Oxford Brookes University.

About us


  • SEBDA is a national charity that was established in the 1950s to promote the emotional wellbeing of children and young people and the professionals who work with them. SEBDA publishes the research quarterly Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties and is a national leader in continuing professional development around SEMH difficulties.

Oxford Brookes

  • The Oxford Brookes School of Education is part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Oxford Brookes University. It has a strong reputation for delivery of SEN courses which include the National SENCO Award and a dedicated SEND pathway to its MA in Education. 

The SEBDA/Brookes courses in SEMH

  • The Brookes/SEBDA partnership aims to provide a high-quality postgraduate experience and the chance for students to achieve a well-regarded distance learning qualification in the field of social, emotional and mental health difficulties.  
  • The course is delivered online via distance learning. Students attend 3 online study days and a number of online group or individual tutorials, but most activities are delivered asynchronously. 

Key functions of the role of tutor:

  • You will provide tutorial support to students on the SEBDA-Brookes SEMH course:
    • You will support and encourage engagement in learning activities via the Virtual Learning Environment.
    • You will provide online group and individual tutorials.
    • You will be the first point of contact when students encounter academic or other difficulties impacting on their ability to progress through the course.
  • You will mark assignments and provide feedback in line with agreed guidelines and OB protocols.
  • You will liaise with other members of the SEBDA-Brookes team when appropriate in order to enhance the quality of the course and the student experience.
